So we know have a beta version of a library template that includes the Debian packaging. It would be great to also have RPM/Fedora, Gentoo, SUSE, etc. packaging as part of the template.
And if you come across some tweaks to the Makefile that would make the packaging easier, I am willing to make some changes. The Debian packaging is all in the 'debian' sub-folder.
