-1 and 1 are already the min and max voltages supported by the hardware (unless it also includes a mixer set to less than 100%)

If there's anything to do for the sake of your speakers, do it in the amp that is plugged directly to the speakers. Anywhere else is the wrong place to fix the problem. Volume shouldn't go to eleven.
