I forgot to mention, if you're on Ubuntu or Mint, the easiest way to get the 
beta builds is via the PPA: 

https://launchpad.net/~eighthave/+archive/pd-extended/

To add this PPA, run this in your Terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:eighthave/pd-extended
