Pd also freezes with the same symptoms (CPU usage rises to max) whenever you 
try to set a latency smaller than the block size. Pd should check against this 
case and issue a warning instead of freezing. since block size and latency are 
in different units (samples vs milliseconds) it's quite easiy to mess things 
up. This is true for ASIO, don't know about other platforms. maybe these to 
issues are somehow related?
