Ctrl shouldn't have any effect. Simply drag your mouse to change the value and use the Shift key for fine steps (0.01) > Double clicking worked once as specified in the tutorial I'm doing, no need to double click, a single click should be enough. which number box object are you talking about? Number or Number2? Or both? Note that when you click on 'Number2', the number turns red (to show you that you can enter a new value) but 'Number' doesn't give such visual clue (it probably should...)
