No, "objectname" refers to full string that was typed into the object box. So 
"foo/bar"
"classname" refers to the part after the rightmost slash-- "bar"
This combines for "foo/bar/bar.pd_linux" (for example).
You can test it with the "-verbose" flag. Try entering "foo/bar" in an object 
box and try to create it. You'll see "foo/bar/bar" with various extensions in 
the Pd window.
