To be clear, my only concern with assignment using hex values, is that I
cannot redefine their value, as I can with named values, such as "black" or
"white".

To respond to Dan, my concern with the white background is not only eye
discomfort from glare, but also light spill during performance. I'm looking
to control lighting when capturing hand gestures that drive graphics. A
fully white screen becomes a potential problem then.
