I have been creating pdfs for printing one color documents which are then use as camera ready art for a newspaper. The results after making a postscript file and distilling the original Quark document yeilds inferior quality halftone pictures. In Quark the halftone pictures are sharp. (res 1200 using 85lpi screen). The distiller job option for print has res set at 1200 dpi also. Perhaps the ppd I used is a problem. There are many Distiller ppd's. DistillerCS, DistillerX. Is one better than another for my purpose? I am using Mac OS 8.6, Acrobat 5.05 and Quark 4.1 To change your subscription: http://www.pdfzone.com/discussions/lists-pdfbasics.html
