I have faced that problem with a newsletter someone sent me with an A4 PDF page with two-up A5 pages. I used the cropping method others suggested.
A minor point. No need to use Save As followed by re-assembling the pages.
In Thumbnails (Pages in v.6) hold down the Ctrl key and drag the page to the adjacent position three times. That will give you four identical pages. Crop each appropriately and save under new name. A minor time save.
