Software/Hardware Specifics? How are you scanning book, is it a bound book. Define white space. It sounds like your scanner is ignoring the surrounding area and only seeing the text.

I would like to maintain the original page size in the converted pdf pages after the scanning process. Wonder if I could avoid this automatically cutting?
