The PDF in question is a 300+ page book of scanned pages. The original scans are 600 dpi, thus making a bloated 25mb file. I test printed the first 10 pages from Acrobat 6.0.1, on Windows XP, to an HP4200 LaserJet with a postscript driver. There is nothing wrong with the PDF file, and it prints fine. However, I would make the following recommendations: 1) Using the built-in PDF optimizer feature in Acrobat, or a third-party plug-in, these files need to be downsampled. The maxmimum resolution necessary for commercial printing is 300 dpi, and 150 dpi should be adequate for laser reproduction. This should reduce the file size to about 25%. Or 6mb. 2) One should make sure to be using a PostScript print driver. 3) If the file still doesn't print, one should choose the "Print as Image" option in the print dialog box. One or all of these suggestions should solve this particular. Hope this helps. I have posted before about our problem with printing books that have been scanned in various ways by out clients and cannot be printed. The only solution we have found is using a RIP and we want other solutions. Does anyone know of someone or someplace that we can send a sample PDF to have it analyzed? I have used up my knowledge and all of the info I got from you guys and seem to be at a loss. We want to find a solution to this and I am not sure where else to turn.
