James,

Here's my two cents on the virus subject.

I get 10-25 emails a day with viruses. They come from everywhere, including
members of this list. I even received more than a dozen one day from my
principal vendor (although all of the individual IDs on the emails were
bogus). One day I even received an automatic reply notice that I had sent a
virus to someone else, although I never open unknown attachments and my
computer is as bullet-proof as it can get against viruses.

I am getting very tired of the whole virus thing. To me sending a virus to
millions of computers is a crime for which one should receive years of
confinement at Attica, or some other facility for the world's worst
criminals.

In the meantime, I am protected by McAfee for only $34.95 per year. If one
can't afford such a small cost, like a lock on a door, one should not have a
computer. After all, the protection is not only for oneself, but to be
responsible to help avoid being a middleman for those who create the
viruses.

To all who may give a dang,

Ever since I signed up for this list I started receiving emails with virus
attachments. This morning I received one using the email address of a well
known PDF master in Israel. Obviously he didn't actually send the email,
but someone is using a spammer to send bogus emails with virus attachments
using email addresses from the PDF list. This usually happens when someone
opens said attachment and the virus "latches" on to the infected computer's
email address book and automatically sends itself back out using the address
book email addresses as the originating address. This is just a heads up to
you folks out there who might not have the luxury of an IT department that
updates the anti-virus regulary. Update your anti-virus definitions and if
you don't have anti-virus installed on your machine it's in your best
interest, and everyone elses, to get one. Here's a freebie:

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming already in
