Welcome to GNU PDF :). I don't think you have to worry too much about
a background in "PDF and other topics related" as I didn't have much
either when I started.
I would wait for Jose (jemarch) to reply for what to do next. He's our
BD (Benevolent Dictator) and will give you a good direction to start
for a newcomer.
