Jason - do you mean support for creation of tagged PDF or consumption/viewing
or something else?

I ask because there ARE open source solutions that do generate and consume
tagged PDF.

Also, while not open source, Adobe Reader is available on many platforms for
"free" and does exposed both tagged and untagged PDFs to screen readers
including ATK (on Linux).

Does this project plan to implement sections 14.7-14.9 of the ISO
specification? I am interested in the accessibility of PDF documents to people
with disabilities, and, so far as I know, there isn't an implementation of
tagged PDF as free software.

If this were implemented, it would be possible for example to convert PDF
documents to XML, create accessible PDF files, and even expose the logical
structure of a PDF document via the ATK/AT-SPI accessibility interfaces.

I appreciate that this project may not have reached the point of considering
such issues yet.
