This is not related to renaming the file, as the final file that is
generated on the server is fixed short length file name, but when it is
called on the web browser, wnd you want to save it, a different name pump up
as defualt file name in Save dialogue box. This long name is actually the
query string that I sent to that ASP file.
Anyhow, I think using a cfm script can solve this problem, if I call the PDF
via cfm script rather than using the asp script (I need the ASP script to
run FDFMerge on command line on the server, as it is not possible by cfm!?).
This is again trying to cover up one scripting language's disability, with
another one, or maybe there is a way that simply I am not aware of?
Thanks again for the comments

Is there not a rename file option/facility using ASP? or
have I
misunderstood the problem?
