I want to share something I just found out, which saved me a lot of work and I never saw mentioned before. I just finished a CD-ROM with about thirty PDF files, all cross-linked. Working with Acrobat 5 on a Mac (OS 9), I didn't realise the capital letters in all my file and directory names wouldn't show up under Linux. Until I tested the CD, that is. Having to re-do all the bookmarks and links, especially the index with a couple of hundred alone, gave me cramps in the shoulders even thinking about. So I tried opening the files in BBedit and search-and-replacing all names concerned, and even though Acrobat complained a little afterwards, it "fixed" all my files and they now work under Linux, Mac and Windows. Changing the creator to BBedit before this operation makes entire directories searchable for BBedit, which saves opening all the files individually. Acrobat doesn't mind and changes them back by itself. Hope this helps somebody else some day! And please, if there's an easy way in Acrobat to do this - DON'T TELL ME! ;-) Stefan -- barthdesign stefan barth Am Glaadtbach 6, 54584 Jnkerath Tel. +49 (0) 65 97 / 9 60 50 80 Fax +49 (0) 65 97 / 9 60 50 79 http://www.barthdesign.de To change your subscription: http://www.pdfzone.com/discussions/lists-pdfforms.html
