Hi, list This is a posting I got off the BFMA list. Interesting question. I can think of several reasons why this would not be possible, but has anybody out there tried something like this? Successfully? Thanks, Mark ********** PDF For Use in Impact (dot matrix) Printers *********** I have a question for the PDF gurus out there, or anyone else who has experience with this situation. I am going to prepare PDFs for a website used by auto dealers. The dealer will find the PDF he wants, print it on a laser printer, then run it through an impact printer (dot matrix) which will add the variable information. The PDFs are forms, but will not contain form fields, since the forms have to be filled out by the dealer's system using an impact printer. The 8 1/2 x 11 form as PDF is set up for impact printing (10 characters per inch across, 6 lines per inch vertically) and it must stay that way. The dealers have various laser printers and various versions of Acrobat Reader, although I could set up the form to require 4.0 or 5.0 minimum. Here are my questions: 1) What settings or code can I use in Acrobat 6.0 Pro to help make sure that the PDF prints the same on every laser printer? In other words, can I force the user to print on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, disable the Print-as-Image option, prevent the PDF from shrinking itself, disable two-sided printing, etc.? The form must print exactly as I designed it so that the 6ths and 10ths won't be compromised. 2) Do you see any potential problems with the above scenario? Thank you in advance for your advice.
