I don't really see any other issues, since I don't know how he would get an old copy of Acrobat...And in those old versions, PDFWriter didn't embed either...
Yes, only 2 choices for Bernard : PDFWriter/Distiller or printing to PostScript + GhostScript and Mac GS View...
