This can happen, and it may happen more than often...
The best workaround here is to write the code in a programming text editor which has code coloring and parentheses balancing.
Recommended examples:
For OSX: BBEdit 7.1.4
For Windows: NoteTab (http://www.notetab.ch)
For whatever: emacs
