I would venture to suggest you possibly have a corrupt download on
your hands there. I'm running Win98Se here, and downloaded/installed
Adobe Reader 6 without problem.
I would therefore recommend you try downloading the file again--only
this time with a download manager in place. I noticed that the Adobe
server (for some strange reason) seemed to drop the download a few
times during the duration of the job. If I hadn't had a download
manager in place, chances are I too would have been in the position
you now find yourself.
Alternatively, if you are UK based, wait until the new editions of the
monthly computing mags come out: chances are most will have this
cover mounted.
