Title: RE: [PDF] Negative images printing from PDF

Ask the printer if they are using Quite a box of tricks to convert the document to gray. I've seen QBOT do this and the only way around it that I know of is to have the printer use another program to perform this function (maybe a pitstop action)

Subject: [PDF] Negative images printing from PDF

The PDF list is a service provided by PDFzone.com | http://www.pdfzone.com
__________________________________________________________________

A client created a book in PageMaker 6.5 with quite a few halftones.
The client's notes as to the specs are below:

"The halftones (grayscale) were scanned at 300 dpi. I made a postscript file
and then distilled this file using acrobat 4.0. The PDF file for the entire
publication is 130 megs. The whole project looks great on my computer (G4)
both in PageMaker in PDF reader. It prints out properly on my HP 2100, 1200
dip postscript printer.

When I get a proof  many of the halftones show up as a reverse image. This
is not the first time I have had this problem, and it is driving me batty.
There is not consistency to it. I do things the same way, and it sometimes
produces desired results and sometimes reversed images.

One image is use on the cover of the book and inside. On the cover it
printed correctly, inside it printed in reverse.

All the images have the same specs."

Does anyone know what could be causing this? The client has had extensive
tech help from Adobe to no avail. We have redistilled, enhanced and
preflighted the file but have not found anything that would indicated why
this is happening.
