Quite frankly, the "Do not send fonts to Distiller" is the proper
default setting for the "Acrobat Distiller" (Acrobat 5) or "Adobe PDF"
(Acrobat 6) PostScript printer driver instance. There are exceptionally
few exceptions in which one should have the driver put fonts into
the PostScript stream with these versions of Distiller. Distiller does
a much better job of finding, placing, and properly subsetting fonts
for PDF creation than does the PostScript driver which is really optimizing
its font inclusion strategy for actual print devices.

The only real exception to enabling "do not send fonts to the Distiller"
option are cases in which applications are temporarily loading their
own fonts into the system for private use. The most common examples of this
would be (1) if you were editing a Microsoft Office document in which TrueType
fonts were embedded in the Word document, but NOT actually installed
permanently on your system and (2) double-clicking on a non-installed font
to get a sample page and then trying to print to a PDF file. In both these
cases, you would override (i.e., turn OFF) the "do not send fonts to the
Distiller" option. Otherwise, this option should always be enabled for
best results with Acrobat 5 and 6!!

Hi Tom:
How are you doing?

I adjusted the default setting on my PC by opening the actual Distiller Printer Instance Properties (the one under Settings->Printers).
Click on the General ->Printing Preferences->Adobe PDF Settings
On this tab you'll find the offensive "Do not send fonts to Distiller" checkbox to 'un' check.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [PDF] How to adjust defulat settings when printing to distiller?

Just wondering how to adjust the default settings in Acrobat?  Every time I go to write a postscript file I have to click off the "Do not send fonts to Distiller" and it's rather irritating and an extra step I'd like to avoid.  Can anyone help me out
