Dear PDF Gurus, I am a long-time subscriber but seldom post to the list, as I do not have the expertise of so many of you unselfish experts. I greatly appreciate all of the knowledge and insight so willingly shared on this list - an extremely valuable resource. Thank you for all of your help past, present and future. I have searched the Help, PDF list archives and Adobe's Support website but can't seem to find an explanation of my issue. However, if there is one and I've missed it I apologize and would appreciate the reference to it. My Question: Is the capability to create links by browsing pages from the Link Properties pop-up window in 5.x not available in Create Link pop-up windows in 6.0, or am I just missing a very simple method to do this? Detail (if rq'd): I have recently upgraded to Acrobat 6.0 Pro, and am on WinXP with Office 2002 on a P4-1.8G w/512mb ram. I am missing the boat on a very simple technique for linking that I used in 5.x (and earlier) that appear to be unavailable in 6.0. I create reports that link graphic flowchart symbols to text explanations in subsequent pages / Appendices. The graphics come from Visio and are pasted into Word where the text detail resides. The graphic symbols relate on a one-to-one basis with numbered text explanations (rather lengthy) in Word. Specifically, I created the PDF, then went in and linked specific symbols to specific text pages and paragraphs (much easier and granular than linking capabilities in Word as far as I am aware). In 5.x, I could create the link and page down to the specific destination while the create link window was open, and when I clicked to set the destination, Acrobat would take me back to the originating page and link so I could easily create another, and another, etc. In Acrobat 6.0 Pro, I seem to have to know the page number beforehand when creating links as it won't allow paging down to the exact spot I want to go to. Further, I cannot go to a specific line or part of the targeted destination, so my customers now have to link to the page and scan the destination page to find the specific point, meaning they have to remember the symbol number they're coming from to scan the page they're taken to in order to find the correct point. Even when I'm doing this (the author), I sometimes lose track of why I was going there. Lastly, after linking to the destination and adjusting the view by paging down or up, the "previous View" button takes me back through every page adjustment to the view before getting back to the originating point. I've tried the Destinations capability, but find it is very cumbersome (not even feasible?) compared to how I was able to create links and set destinations in 5.x. So is the ability to create links by browsing pages from the Create Link pop-up window in 5.x not available in 6.0, or am I just missing a very simple method to do this? Thank you in advance for your help. Best Regards, Chuck Berkau Process Works, Inc. [EMAIL PROTECTED] To change your subscription: http://www.pdfzone.com/discussions/lists-pdf.html
