Darrel,

Yes, I have asked these questions before, or at least brought up these
background issues.

My point, if I have one, is that there may be a significant pre-existing
context for Mr. Rice's comments that is not part of his rant. The loaded
language used in his message is far beyond what the civil messages on this
list usually contain.

I've received some supportive messages off list from people who felt that
the language in Mr. Rice's message was not appropriate for the list.

I certainly do not wish to prolong any discussion about a single message,
but I have attempted to constrain my own tendency to rant in any message on
any list, since what inevitably happens is that participation on a list
drops for awhile since nobody wants to read rants, and the "ranter" can get
bombarded by other ranters on and off list. It becomes a mess, alienates
folks, and undoes the good will of the list.

With my "questions" I was attempting to identify some of the context that
Mr. Rice may be writing from in his rant against Adobe and Microsoft.

Haven't you already asked these questions, Bob? I'm OK with you asking, but
I'm missing the point you are trying to make.
