Technical term I think is "rights enabled."  Which requires you to have
the Adobe document Server for Reader Extensions to enable a PDF doc.

And users need at least Reader 5.1, I believe, to use the PDF.

Enable" a
pdf in Acrobat 5 or 6?

        That's strange.  I don't think Reader is supposed to do that. 
What does your "email button" actually do??

        Yes, Reader has always done this.  However, keep in mind that 
there is no way for a user of Reader to save the PDF with the field 
data included (unless the PDF is "Reader Enabled").
