Quark 6 doesn't recognize Acrobat 6 (PDF1.5) files. I don't think it
recognizes Acrobat 5 (PDF1.4) files either. It does, however, recognize
Acrobat 4 (PDF1.3) files for sure.

Since you have Acrobat 6, you can distill using Adobe PDF Settings set for
Acrobat 4 compatibility. Or, if you have the professional version of
Acrobat, you can go File/Reduce File Size to "dumb" your PDF to a previous
version. You also have the option of using the Advanced/PDF Optimizer
function for more refined dumbing down of your file (better than "Reduce
File Size" because you can control resolution, font embedding, and other
clean up options using it).

Which specific reduction options are available in the Acrobat 6 Standard
edition, I can't remember.
