Mac OS 9.1 Strange problem, but not the first time. Distilling a 50 page catalog from a QuarkXpress 4.11 file. First (and primary) problem: Using a .ps file printed from the Xpress file, I use Distiller 4.0.5 and no matter how I fiddle with the settings, end up with a 35.5 MB file (very little variation in size) Using the same .ps file, I distill using Distiller 3.0.2 and end up with a 3.8 MB file, 1/10 the size I get when using distiller 4. What gives? Second problem: I had the same problem last time I distilled this same catalog about a year ago, threw up my hands and simply used Distiller 3. However, the size of the PDF I made a year ago is only 2.1 megabytes. Now it's 3.8 MB. I am using the exact same settings I used a year ago ( I wrote them down back then). Further, the size of the catalog file hasn't changed significantly at all. Some text has been edited and old images have been replaced with new ones, but the catalog itself is for present purposes "the same" as it was before. Again, what gives?
