I have both Acrobat 5.0.5 and 6.0.1 installed on a Windows XP Pro
system. First, I renamed the PDF Writer and Distiller print drivers to
"PDF5 Writer" and "Distiller5" respectively, then installed Acrobat 6.
(It installed "Acrobat PDF", which I renamed "Acrobat6 PDF").

Two cautions: I don't allow Acrobat 5 to reconfigure browser settings,
and everything works in Acrobat 6. Second, the Acrobat macros in MS
Office don't work (disconnected) so I disabled them. It's really not too
much trouble to just "File | Print" to the writer(s) or Distiller. Works
fine.

The only reason I keep 5 around is to use the functionality of Enfocus
PowerUpPDF. I'm really starting to like Acrobat 6, just wish the Catalog
function hadn't changed.

Finally, I heard that Acrobat 6 can coexist with previous versions
(unlike previous revs of Acrobat). Does anybody know if that is true
