The correct/standard thing to do is query the Windows registry for the owner of the .pdf file extension and then use that path. The other alternative is to look in the Adobe parts of the registry... since the .pdf can be associated with products other than the reader, it looks like the registry is the way to go...that was my first choice but i just wanted to make sure i was not missing some other neat way to get it. thanks.
