I've found a presentation from PDF Sages that suggests that Acrobat 6 only ships with Adobe fonts - NO BASE 14!

        That is correct.  Acrobat 6 no longer includes the fonts formerly known as a "Base14".  Instead, it relies on the OS to provide them.  So as long as you havent screwed with your OS's default fonts - all should be fine.  BUt if you have...
