That's probably because they both have a setting in preferences to display PDF in browser.  If you want to view the files in your browser leave that one turned on.  I prefer to d/l the pdf so I turn them both off.  Don't know what you get if their both on.

I am using Windows XP Professional and Acrobat 6.0 Professional (6.0
Reader). I would like to make the Acrobat 6.0 Reader be the default program
for PDF files (including viewing on the Web using Internet Explorer 6). I've
experimented with the File Type settings (Windows Explorer/Folder Options)
and was able to make the Reader the default program for non-Web PDFs only.
