Unless I mis-read the blurb, This does a byte for byte compare looking for duplicate files, etc.  These files aren't duplicates.  In fact I know that they are dramatically different sizes, etc., but they should produce the same output when you view them or print them out.  The need is for something which does a visual comparison like the built-in compare in Acrobat 6.  It is fine with the files as long as they generate the same end result image.  I just don't have the time or resources to go through that process 20K times to determine which files failed comparison because they where internally different and which are visually different as well.

You might try PDF-Compare/Authenticate

This may help. It will identify files that are identical or different.
It will perform the analysis as a batch process on large numbers of files.

Hi All

Does any-one know of a better tool than the basic COMPARE function in ACROBAT.

I need to compare two documents and highlight any differences in fonts and text positions.

Speed is an important factor.

Just to make matters more complicated I operate on a MAC platform.

Peter

While we're on the topic, is there any quick way to automate the process and compare batches of files?  I've got thousands I need to go through to compare the old and new versions.  They should be visually identical, but the creation libraries have changed and I need to confirm them.  Any thoughts, tools, etc.?

TIA
