I set up a dummy file in Publisher, selected File -> Print..., and then
clicked on "Change Page Order...". I then clicked on "Print as book", and
printed to my PDF driver, in my case Acrobat. Worked as expected. This is
the way that I've typically done this with Publisher, although I agree with
Kathy that Microsoft has not made this very intutive over the years.

For anyone on this list that does impositions a lot, invest in Quite
Imposing Plus. Well worth it.

Try this (experiment on a copy of your file just in case you have problems).

Go to File, Page Setup in Publisher. Select "Booklet" as the document type.
The Page Size is 8.5 X 11. Orientation is Portrait.=20 =20 Go to File,
Print, select PDF Factory as your printer. Hopefully the print driver will
have the option of selecting 2 pages per sheet. My print driver has both
Output Sheet Size which I set at 11X17 and a Page Size which I set at
8.5X11. I also can select a Page Layout option of "Print 2 pages per sheet".

Your PDF should be created as 11 X 17 sheets with the pages oriented in the
correct order for the press. Make a sample dummy booklet with numbered pages
to double check the file.

I think it's a conspiracy by Microsoft to make this booklet feature as
confusing as possible. It took me a couple of tries to realize I don't want
to set the Page Size in Publisher as 11 X 17 even though that's the size of
the booklet.

I'm not sure this is the list to ask this question, but here
goes:
        =20
The principal of my children's elementary school asked me to create
a yearbook/annual, booklet style 8.5 x11 (which means printing on paper 11 x
17 and folding/binding, etc.) of approximately 44 inside pages and 4 pages
of cover (front, front inside, back inside, back)
        =20
I am using Microsoft Publisher 2003 on a windows PC to create the
booklet. Where we are priting the booklet (the public school's print shop)
they use ONLY mac computers so they want the file in PDF or Postscript
format.  =20
The problem I am having is that behind the scenes, Publisher creates
the pages in the proper order for printing, even though what you see on
screen shows the booklet pages in numerical order. When I save the
publisher file in PDF format (I'm using a printer driver called pdfFactory
(http://www.fineprint.com/products/pdffactory/index.html) as I don't have
Adobe Acrobat, the pages don't get set up in "booklet"
fashion, therefore they are not in the correct order for the print shop.

        =20
This is what the print shop told me to do and it is a lot of extra
work on my part:
        =20
                        You'll have to make a 11x17 page in Publisher=20
and then copy and paste the pages in the correct

                        printing order, not consecutive order.
For example the front cover will be on the "right"
side=20
of an 11x17 and the back cover on the "left"
side.
        =20
Is there a way to do booklet printing in a PDF document besides
redoing my Publisher file by copy and paste?
Thanks for whatever help you can share.
        Kory
