Hi,

As you perhaps already noticed from the recent svn activity, I've
started the PDFBOX-366 license review.

So far I've cleared the basic stuff and I even managed to somewhat
reduce the amount of licensing information and copyright notices that
we carry around. For example the W3C, SAX, and ALv1 licenses linked
with the Apache Ant dependency are not needed in PDFBox as we only use
ALv2 parts of Ant.

However, there are tougher issues ahead as I plan to proceed to review
the included font and imaging parts. For example, the CMap files in
src/main/resources/Resources/cmap have headers like the following:

    Copyright 1990-2001 Adobe Systems Incorporated.
    All Rights Reserved.

    Patents Pending

NOTICE: All information contained herein is the property
    of Adobe Systems Incorporated.

Permission is granted for redistribution of this file
provided this copyright notice is maintained intact and
that the contents of this file are not altered in any
    way from its original form.

PostScript and Display PostScript are trademarks of
Adobe Systems Incorporated which may be registered in
    certain jurisdictions.

By these terms it's OK for us to redistribute these files, but I'm not
sure how the Apache policies deal with the prohibition to alter the
files. I'll contact the Apache legal team to find out more.

BR,

Jukka Zitting
