maybe I'm missing the point but could you clarify it a little bit more?

What is the stacktrace you get?
Did you get a ClassNotFoundException?

Which version of Lucene and PDFBox you are using?
I used for indexing the text extractors of the Jackrabbit project, but they
were using an old PDFBox version. So I had to write my own
pdf-textextractor.
