No, it wouldn't.  Take another look at the JavaScript Reference,
specifically the note headed "Security". You probably skipped it
because it didn't seem important, but it's actually the reason
why you can't do that. 

Unless you control the user's PC and can install JavaScripts to
their PC, you cannot do this at all. Consider what hackers could
do if this worked! They could overwrite the PDFs on your PC -
perhaps replace a payroll file on the boss's PC...?
