I am able, via code, to switch to any printer loaded on the machine.  For
PDF creation, we switch to Adobe PDF printer in Adobe 6.0, where in earlier
versions of Acrobat we switched to PDFWriter.

Understood.


BUT Adobe PDF is NOT a "simple printer" like PDFWriter and as such, can NOT be controlled in the same way using such things as registry or .ini settings.

You MUST cause the driver to print to file (again, using standard OS calls) and then take the output file and send it to Acrobat Distiller using the APIs documented in the Acrobat SDK.
