Dear Matthias,
This is Suresh from BSW soft Pvt limited. Today I
have seen your query you posted on PDF zone mailing list.I would like to give my feedback on that.
We, BSW Soft Private Limited (www.bswsoft.com), are a software development
organization located in Japan and India focusing on product / project
development for Japanese market since 1999.
With a successful track record and a satisfied Japanese clientele, we aim to
service customers across the globe including India. We now aspire to take our acclaimed product, PrintCity (www.printcity.info), global.
PrintCity, a sophisticated Enterprise Reporting
solution, has been time tested by our valuable Japanese clientele (over 300
server licenses have been marketed already). It is a Java based application, which comes in different
flavors, helps developers to be more productive and accurate in terms of their
effort for report generation. The API / DLL
support provided by PrintCity helps developers to bundle their reports with any
standard development tool.
Your mail :
<We're currently looking for a PDF-Java-Library to display PDF-files from our billing system. The application is distributed on more than 1300 workplaces (Windows NT) with "Java Web Start" (version 1.2.0_06, Build b02), written in Java (SDK 1.4) and developed in house. My question: is there an existing PDF-Java-library which we could integrate in our application in order to view PDF-documents? A customer requirement is, that there is no need to start an external PDF-viewer (Adobe Acrobat Reader f. ex.) in order to view the billing documents. The viewing part must be fully integrated in the existing application.> In our product we have built in Java PDF library
(developed in JDK14) which will interact with Visual Report desinger and
generate relevant PDF files with database result
set. Also PDF supports all graphic elements and provides security feature
(Password setting). User can embed this PDF reporting within the application. So
the user need not open Acrobat or other PDF
viewer to locate the generated output. He can see the generated PDF in a window
which is a part of application.
PrintCity PDF export supports Double byte character
set like Japanese, chinese,Korean language and English language. So we can export
PDF to German/french language also if such
requirement is needed.
<Are there some jar-files with API's and
documentation which we could use and implement? >
Yes, Apart from designing and taking the reports we
are providng API, DLL around 10 major API (Export to PDF,Setting query,
Security, Spool printing,mail etc)
where developer can easily intgrate with existing
application. The Report which the user designs will be stored in XML format
(Report layout). In Java application the
developer can use the API (JAR) , XML and can generate PDF,CSV etc,
OTHER FEATURES :
1. Report editor is a very user friendly
environment and supports all kind of report design. Multiple page report can
also be designed.
2. Visual Query builder and calculation builder
helps to design complex queries and calculations respectively.Printcity supports
all major databases including SAP DB, Oracle , SQL server etc.,
3.Supports multiple OS like microsoft series,Linux
, MAC, Sun Solaris.
4. our Lincensing model is unique and suitable for
different business model .
Through PrintCity licensing model and features like
API,DLL , you can reduce developemt time and resources .
Hope the above inputs have answered your queries to
an extent. Please let us know in case you have any further queries and we would
be glad to answer them.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
