Well actually I have another alternative but the same problem. I could use VB's webbrouser control to view a PDF. I believe this works VIA IE Plug-in. Basically if IE can open the PDF so could I.
The question remains does anyone know how to suppress the splash screen and maybe even the toolbars

PDF.OCX isn't a supported developer tool.
You should look elsewhere for embedding PDF viewing to your application.
