Interested OpenGL users/developers-
With the 0.01_09 release of OpenGL::Modern we've reached
a milestone with CPAN Testers passing at about 100% (so far).
This demonstrates that the new bindings with their specific
focus on the OpenGL API without ancillary functionality such
as GLUT/FreeGLUT, OpenGL::Array, OpenGL::Matrix,... works
on windows, cygwin, linux, and bsd platforms. The tests are
now smart enough not to check runtime functionality if the
platform does not have needed support for a graphics context.
At the moment, the bindings appear to work and form a
minimal set for OpenGL programing from perl. The remaining
work is to add new, more perlish/friendly routines but the
base functions as implemented will stay the same.
I would like to plan for the first, official CPAN release of
OpenGL::Modern by this Sunday, 12-Feb-2017. That will
make OpenGL::Modern generally available with a base
functionality that is stable enough that I believe it will
support backwards compatibility as development continues.
The two major outstanding issues: build problems for MacOSX,
and lack of a working Travis-CI process can both be resolved
independently of this release.
