I recently purchased a Pentax SMCP-FA 100/3,5 Macro
from B&H for $199. I've only shot one roll with it (my
Dad and I taking headshots of each other) and it is
definitely sharp. Unfortunately, it was a very
overcast day and I was experimenting with Agfa
portrait 160 and didn't use fill flash so I wasn't
overly impressed with the pics. Just for fun, I took
one shot of my Dad as close as possible with his head
more than filling the frame just to see how sharp the
lens is, and I was impressed with the sharpness. My
Dad was so impressed that he immediately framed it and
put it on his living room table!

As for the Phoenix and Vivitar versions, it seems that
Photodo (www.photodo.com) has the Pentax rated
significantly higher 3.7 vs 3.2 for the Vivitar
overall for whatever that's worth. Photodo has no test
results for the Phoenix lenses but I think this one is
identical to the Vivitar with the "life size
attachment" that permits 1:1. That's my 2k worth.

Good luck!
