Your son may be right if it's an old camera, some of the old ones are screw
mount, most famous is the Ricoh TLS.  About the Sears cameras, many were
aperture priority only, but there are some cameras with manual settings.
The Sears system of naming them made nosense either, about the only thing I
can say is that the ones that have Super in the name are the auto only,
which is not so super if you ask me.
