True. Tamron just announced a 24-135, I believe, but not a 24-90.

Personally, I'm a bit disappointed thet the Pentax is apparently going to be at such a 
low price
point. I was hoping they were going a little higher end with this lens, more along the 
lines of the
Nikon 24-120 (about $500.00 at B & H).

Perhaps the smaller zoom range accounts for the price; if it's as good as the Nikon is 
reported to
be I'd be pleased. I still have mixed feelings about buying one, though. When I go any 
wider than
28mm I'm usually in "serious photography" mode and want very high quality (ie., I use 
a prime,
rather than a zoom).
