Yikes! Epson *did* explicitly acknowledge the problem and they have publicly announced 
the fix. 
You can indeed find a *lot* of web pages on Epson's "conspiracy" and "coverup" of this 
problem.
There are almost as many web pages on this as there are on UFOs and Elvis sightings.
