I'm not an expert. But I think the explanation is very, very simple. The
close up table has a subtitle: (Use of lenses in normal position). Now, why
would yuo want to use a wide angle in normal position? It woun't enlarge
much (if anything).
You'll find the wide angles (28mm-40mm) in the "Use of lenses in reverse
position" tables. The wide angles will enlarge more in reverse than the 50mm
lenses.

Can somebody exlain to me why? What happens and why is the reverse mode
better?
