About the only disappointing thing about my experience with the
Pentax 645 I purchased this year has been my lack of any means
of doing any macro photography.

Before buying extension tubes or a macro lens I thought I'd try
an achromatic close-up "filter". So last week I scored a 58mm
Sigma 2-element achromatic close-up lens on eBay. $26.00
including shipping (from England!) seemed like a cheap way to
experiment, even though I'm loathe to put anything between the
front element of my lens and my subject.

In my brief trials this afternoon (sans film) I've determined
that I can get pretty close with my 75mm lens and probably very
near 1:1 with my 200 (and the Sigma is supposedly optimized for
longer lenses).

Now it's time to shoot some film and see what it can do :-)
