Nikon has already abandoned the "old" F-mount. Or is your idea of "full compatibility" having to buy the F-100 (price $1000+) ? If Pentax goes along the same way (and they must, if they are to compete with Nikon and Canon), then our K and M lenses are doomed. Cheers, Boz
