Unfortunately there are a lot of camera repair places that will do that sort of thing. Its like the old garage scam, you drop the car off for change of plugs and they tell you, "you need a new engine". The sad part is that they usually don't even do the work they charge you for. Wouldn't be so bad if you actually got a good CLA for your money, but probably all they would do is fix the basic problem while charging you for the CLA. I have found two solutions. 1. Make real friends with the owner, unless he is a real jerk he won't rip off a friend. 2. Find some retired repair person that just does a few repairs to keep his hand in. These guys are usually a wonderful fount of information as well. Of course some of you are lucky enough to have a decent shop nearby and don't have to worry about this. --Tom - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
