Unfortunately there are a lot of camera repair places that will do that sort
of thing.  Its like the old garage scam, you drop the car off for change of
plugs and they tell you, "you need a new engine".  The sad part is that they
usually don't even do the work they charge you for.  Wouldn't be so bad if
you actually got a good CLA for your money, but probably all they would do
is fix the basic problem while charging you for the CLA.  I have found two
solutions. 1. Make real friends with the owner,  unless he is a real jerk he
won't rip off a friend.  2. Find some retired repair person that just does a
few repairs to keep his hand in.  These guys are usually a wonderful fount
of information as well.  Of course some of you are lucky enough to have a
decent shop nearby and don't have to worry about this.
