Not so. Part of the reason for release of G lenses was in response to requests from certain pro photogs, apparently. True some G lenses are enthusiast targeted but can we say the same about the VR 2.8 zoom? I feel that it is certain that aperture ring lenses in AF are on their way out, certainly in Nikon.
