Hello,
I've been a Pentax fan for years, ever since I got my K1000 in high
school. I've since traded it for a KX, plus I added an ME Super and a
Super Program, but I've also reached back in time, acquiring a
Spotmatic and an H3v (which I traded, but recently replaced with an
H3 in beautiful condition). I guess I should send my Pentax body
count to the list!
I've seen a few references on this group to those extolling the
Pre-Spotmatic Pentaxes; anyone care to wax eloquent on their virtues
(pure, meterless viewfinder, etc.)? I love reading that stuff!
I had a Spotmatic II, but it seemed too similar to the KX; I now
fully enjoy the K-mount Pentaxes and the screwmounts, each for their
distinct qualities. I don't think I'll go any newer than the Super
Program; I can't stand the lightweight plasticky feel of most modern
cameras and I don't want to go near autofocus for now. I had an MX,
but something felt wrong -- the mechanics were exquisite, but I
couldn't stand the viewfinder LEDs! They seem much more at home on
the MEs. For a fully mechanical camera, I seem to prefer the
wonderful needle meter of the KX. As you can see, I'm still growing
within my Pentax collection, trying to see which models are right for
me and for what purposes.
Also, I've had a camera collecting page online for several years,
which I need to update (and I should reflect my stronger Pentax
leanings these days). I've been soliciting submissions from anyone
who wants to e-mail an essay or note on what camera, for them,
started them on camera "collecting," or which camera rekindled a love
of older cameras. Anyone here is free to visit and offer any comments
